The Nicole, developed, built and owned by Gotham, is a 19-story luxury residential building located at West 55th Street and Ninth Avenue, adjacent to the Alvin Ailey Dance Center. Nicole’s height and building proportion were designed to preserve the low-rise infrastructure in the area. The end result was a distinct and intimate residential environment unlike any rental property in Manhattan.
This 149-unit mixed-use project is a total of 173,000 square feet, and features over 30,000 square feet of retail space at the ground floor and below grade. The structure is reinforced concrete, and the façade is a brick and pre-cast with a combination of floor-to-ceiling window walls and punched windows. The lobby exterior is limestone with patterned framed glass. As with every Gotham residential development, the lobby design was integral to the overall project aesthetic. The earth’s elements are represented in each design detail. The lobby-lounge features a fireplace framed in black granite; a bubbling cistern is integrated into the lobby floor; and Travertine marble, Macassar Ebony wood and Black Onyx granite are the dominate surface materials.
The apartments offer luxury finishes including stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, and expansive floor-to-ceiling windows. Completing the property is a landscaped garden terrace, tenant lounge and fitness center.
